Exploring boundless bonds. Ropes as roots to that which arouses and enables release. Breaking binding contracts and contradicting boundaries. Tied to the delicate potentials which pull me closer to myself. Submitting only to the power of me.

Photographer Hélène Mastrandréas describes a fascination with the art of Shibari and bondage reappropriated as something accessible and part of an outfit. Exploring women’s clothing as a constraint in and of themselves. Inspired by writer Corinne Maier who ”speaks of the need to express obscene and emotional asperities as a movement of life, far from a virtuous and totalitarian straight jacket, where everything is smooth, righteous and dead”. In this portrayal of artist Regina Demina, Mastrandréas aims to ”talk about the violence that the woman’s body has integrated. To reappropriate violence in a deliberate way to overcome it.”.

Regina Demina is a multifaceted artist/actor/dancer who earlier this year released the album “Hystérie!” – (Kwaidan Records / Idol).
