Magic World

Born and raised in the south of France and now based in Paris, contemporary artists and photographers Alexandre Henry and Joy Lavigne explore the space between reality and fiction through a collaborative practice spanning photography, installation, and scenography.

In Magic World, the familiar landscapes of southern France become sites of visual experimentation. Hand-built objects, sculptural structures, and fictional figures appear within existing environments, subtly disrupting their idealised image and shifting the familiar towards something more ambiguous and imagined.

At the centre of the series is the human body, treated as both a sculptural and narrative presence. Through staged, often theatrical compositions, bodies interact with constructed environments to form scenes suspended somewhere between the real and the surreal.

Rather than escaping reality, Magic World gently reshapes it. Drawing on ideas of territory, heritage, and collective memory, Henry and Lavigne reveal another side of landscapes so often defined by familiar imagery—transforming them into spaces where material, memory, and imagination coexist.

As Magic World invites us to look beyond the familiar and embrace the unexpected, we wish you a summer filled with magic, joy, and surprises.
