Swedish fashion darlings

WHO: Ann-Sofie Back

WHAT: Stockholm fashion week spring/summer 2015

WHERE: STOCKHOLM

On Stockholm Fashion weeks second day Swedish fashion darling Ann-Sofie Back showed her SS15 BACK collection at Nordiska Kompaniet. A collection dominated by bare shoulders, accentuated waists and stripes. The bare shoulders are a BACK staple that keeps coming back season after season and the same thing with safety pins. This time the safety pins where shown both as jewellery, closings and hair-decorations. Fabric-wise the focus was on checked fleece, jersey and suiting.

The Stripes was showed on pin striped shirts, block striped knits and ribbed jersey stripes. The fringed denim created a flowy feel to the otherwise classic and clean fabrics. The over-all impression of the BACK SS15 is that it is a true BACK collection with all her staples and well known cuts and details. But this time made in a bit more classic fabrics then shown before. A over all wearable and beautiful collection!

BACK has continued her collab with Redken and for the show all models wore wigs cut in the same short and spiky style (apparently Ann-Sofie her self also cut her own hair in the same way). Other BACK news is that she released her own wine – “BACK in a bottle, exclusively sold at Riche in Stockholm

WHO: Cheap Monday

Starting out with a pair of skinny jeans and a scull–logo Cheap Monday has developed into a full fashion house now celebrating 10 year in business. With it´s roots in youth culture they have over the year established a true style that has it´s roots in denim and sub cultures.

The SS15 show was held at the beautiful Forsgrenska Badet, a swimming pool building in the middle of Södermalm. One of Cheap Mondays head designers is Ann-Sofie Back, the Swedish fashion darling. Much thanks to her hook on Swedish fashion crowd Cheap Monday can have there shows in a different venue’s, quite far from the rest of the shows and still get the (quite comfortable) fashion people to come. And not just to show up but also get them to put blue plastic shoe covers over their heels, shoe covers you normally see at the dentist. The models walked around the pool to the sound of 90’s/00’s punk-rock.

The collection was a grate mix of all we have seen in fashion during at least the last 30 years. Still with the true Cheap Monday feel. A mix of 80´s punk, 90’s grunge and 00’s Stockholm hipster style. The silhouette was a bit leaner and longer mixed together with volume’s layering of checked shirts and denim.

The jeans look was heavily bleached with a strong back-to-denim feature in washes and fits. Focus was laid on shorts for both men and women and with a 90’s boyfriend fits for women. There skinniest model “spray-on” is now also available for men.

And yes, the models did jump in to the pool at the end!

Who: Erik Bjerkensjö

Erik is one of Sweden’s up and coming brightest shining star’s in men´s fashion . He´s SS15 collection was a gamble with the silhouettes and shapes of classic men´s wear. It started with a red paint-like pattern on a jacket and shirt, continued with a white, boxy shape and ended with different ways to manipulate classic tailored shirts, suits and trousers. A successful play with the classic male silhouette.
